Liquid Filled Dial Thermometers - Rigid And Remote

Contain an actuating medium which is Mercury Free, Safe, Nontoxic, and Nonflammable, eliminating concerns over hazardous materials in plants.

Since federal legislation has tightened environmental regulations as applied to Mercury Bearing Waste, the new requirements, added cost, and associated safety precautions involving mercury disposal will make using traditional mercury-in-glass thermometers increasingly difficult. Palmer's Liquid Filled Dial Thermometers enable users to replace standard mercury- in-glass, and mercury actuated dial thermometers, with thermometers containing a liquid which has proven to be an excellent substitute for mercury. Its accuracy, response time, and linearity are almost identical to mercury and superior than a bimetal or spirit filled thermometer.

All Palmer Dial Thermometers have various stems and connections which are interchangeable with existing industrial type thermowells without any mechanical changes in process plumbing, including sanitary fittings. A fast response is insured by the metal-to-metal contact of the tapered liquid filled bulb chamber and the internally tapered well. Flexible stems are available for installations where wells are not being used or long stem lengths are needed, or if the fragility of bimetal thermometers is a problem. Super-short stem lengths are also available upon request.

New Stainless Steel Direct Drive Coils increase accuracy, withstand vibration, and last longer than traditional sector and pinion thermometers. The pointer shaft operates directly from the center coil, eliminating the conventional sector and pinion type movement and its multiplying mechanism. Palmer's Dial Thermometers are fully adjustable to the best reading angle with a case that can be rotated 350 deg. Light magnifying covers are used to enhance lighting in dark environments making reading the dial easier. An external calibration screw allows for easy accessibility and use.

The first mercury-free bimetal thermometer which is interchangeable with an industrial mercury-in-glass-thermometer - without changing the thermowell. It is the low cost, effective solution to the problem of eliminating mercury in plants. The SLIP-FIT Bimet also offers the world's only replaceable element feature which gives users the ability to simply remove the element and save the case. In some applications, and with a union fitting, the case and stem act as a thermowell.

Our unique replaceable element feature has a cartridge design which makes replacements less expensive and allows for easy range or scale changes. The replaceable element assembly comes precalibrated and ready for installation by a technician who can install it as easily as changing batteries in a flashlight. It reduces waste since you never dispose of a functional case, making the initial investment and future costs of our product lower than with other types of thermometers.

SLIP-FIT bimet "slips" into an industrial well and "fits" with its tapered bulb, and 1-1/4 - 18" swivel nut, providing metal to metal contact. No more conversion kits to adapt bimetal thermometers into industrial wells.

The external recalibration screw, or adjustable pointer feature (on Replaceable Element only) permits the setting for zero calibration error at any desired temperature within range of the thermometer.

Palmers' ALL-STAR was named because it possesses all of the top quality features of a Bimetal thermometer, and more! Available in 3" and 5" heavy duty cases with either Back Connected or All Angle Case. Fast response and consistently accurate temperature indication are obtained from a high- torque, low mass bimetal sensing element incorporating latest advances in physical metallurgy and fabrication technique.

It includes:

Easy to read dial is of deep drawn metal of anti-parallax design. black lines and numbers on a low-glare white background with dial graduation and pointer on the same level minimize reading errors.

Hermetically sealed case and plexiglass cover are securely held in place by quick-lock, cam-action bezel ring. Heavy, heat resistant gasket seals our moisture, prevents icing and freeze-up of helix.

Simple, convenient recalibration is accomplished with an adjustable pointer. This feature also permits setting for zero calibration error at any desired temperature within range of the thermometer.

Accuracy is within 1 % of full scale on all Palmer BiMetal Thermometers. accuracy is not affected by ambient temperature changes a at the case.

For applications involving HIGH PRESSURE OF CORROSIVE MEDIA, we recommend the use of Palmer WELLS. Wells also permit installation and removal of the thermometer without process interruption. Spirit Filled Thermometers

Many companies in search of a mercury free thermometer are assuming that a spirit filled thermometer will solve their problem. While it will eliminate mercury, you will be making other sacrifices in quality, such as:

a) The Spirit Filled Thermometer has a large bore which makes the thermometer susceptible to 1) separation when shipping, 2) inaccuracies due to ambient temperature changes at the case.

b) Response time is approximately 20 times slower than the Mercury-in- Glass Industrial Thermometers.

c) The expansion rate of the thermometer is nonlinear. Thus a manufacturers inability to custom build a scale will further increase inaccuracies before the thermometer is installed.
