Backwash Strainers

Airpel backwash strainers are used for the continuous filtration of suspended solids from low viscosity liquids (normally water). Applications are normally in industrial plants using river, lake, well or sea water for descaling, bearing lubrication, spraying, quenching and similar duties. Airpel offers two alternative designs of backwash strainer. The model A features a compact but uniquely rugged construction that incorporates a shearing action to break up debris and options that allow the strainer to be fitted on both the suction and discharge side of the pump. This model can be used for removal of fibers. Our model AFW is a more conventional cost effective backwash strainer that is used for similar but generally less demanding duties. Backwash strainers can be offered in cast iron, aluminum bronze and stainless steel in sizes up to 1220mm (48") pipe size.
